A dog missing for eleven days was found by the smell of grilled sausage

The missing Chihuahua returned after his owners camped and grilled sausages for five days at the site where he disappeared.

Liam Enisz and his partner from Stockton-on-Tees told the BBC that their beloved pet Penny was “very food orientated”, so they hoped her favourite smell would attract the dog home.

Eleven days after the disappearance, which also happened to be her birthday, Penny was finally found and reunited with her family. Mr Enisz even got a tattoo to celebrate Penny’s adventure and return. However, according to him, Penny had started to ride her bike on the walk. She set off immediately after the bike and before we knew it, she was round one bend, round another bend and gone”.

The owners then spent five nights camping and cooking sausages in a meadow on the busy Wynyard road where Penny had disappeared.

Speaking of Penny’s return, Mr Enisz said, “It’s absolutely indescribable, like a child reborn!”. The family has three other dogs who were also thrilled by her return.
